Our Mission

At Thrive in the Wild Forest School, our mission is to reconnect children with nature through meaningful outdoor experiences that support wellbeing, confidence and curiosity.

We bring Forest School into schools and early years settings, creating nurturing, screen-free spaces where children can play, explore and thrive.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, research is increasingly proving the powerful benefits of outdoor time: improved mental health, greater emotional resilience and better concentration in the classroom. We believe that quality time in nature is not a luxury - it's essential.

Rooted in nature-based learning, we aim to empower every child to grow with joy, balance and a lifelong connection to the natural world.

All of our practitioners hold a Forest School Level 3 qualification, enhanced DBS, First Aid trained and fully insured.

Kirsty Edwards

Kirsty Edwards, co-founder of Thrive in the Wild Forest School, is passionate about bringing the benefits of Forest School directly to children in schools and early years settings. With a background as an experienced secondary school PE teacher and Head of Key Stage, Kirsty has always been dedicated to the growth and wellbeing of young people.

Following the 2020 pandemic, the power of nature in supporting children’s mental health and overall wellbeing became more evident than ever. This realisation sparked a mission: to create safe, nurturing outdoor spaces where children can learn, explore, play, and truly thrive.

Through Thrive in the Wild, Kirsty now works to make Forest School accessible to all, championing the positive impact of outdoor learning on children’s mental, emotional, and physical health.
